Tradiciones en las bodas I ;)

Hola!!

¡Empecemos!

Hello!

Just a short time before the season begins and many couples await the spring to share their anxious “Yes, I do”

The wedding day is possibly one of the most special days you will experience with your loved ones. However, do you know why the groom stands on the right? Or why the bride has to wear something borrowed, something blue and something new? Why guests through rice at the couple?

Our post today is dedicated to these customs that we carry out at weddings and seldom know the motives.

Let’s begin!

Moments1

Tradition 1: Don’t see the bride before the wedding

Nowadays when couples live together before marriage, what difference would it make if they see each other on their wedding day? If they do it to guard the secret and wait for the big momento has its logic but if we analyse it , doubts enter.

MOMENTS1

Tradition 2: The dress of the bride

We are accustomed to seeing White dresses with long tranes, and kilimeter veils

But do you know why?

Various theories exist concerning the length of veils but the one we most like is that when the bride arrives at the church the trane erases her steps and the bad spirits cannot follow her to the altar. In this way her marriage is protected from badluck.

The veil was the way of showing the purity, innocence and in some cultures, the bride’s submission to her husband.

And lastly, the color White! When we think of the color for our wedding dress we usually say white or cream. But wedding dresses have been in the most original colors that you can possibly imagine. Brides in other civilizations dressed in red, yellow, black ..Since   Queen Victoria of England decided to marry in 1840 in a White dress that symbolized peace, purity, innocence, happiness and since then, immortality, almost all brides chose this color for their wedding dresses.

¿A vosotr@s?

Tradition 3: The bouquet

The bouquet is an essential element in the wedding and it must combine with the dress and the carácter of the bride…but why carry a bouquet?

This tradition goes back to ancient Egypt where the bride carried a bouquet of aromatic herbs to keep bad spirits away.

MOMENTS5

Another tradition associated with the bouquet is who gives it to her. Normally it should be someone of confidence to the groom as it is a proof of his love to the bride to remind her that at a determined time he will await her at the altar. Further more the person who is in charge of delivering the bouquet ought to recite a poem or sing to the bride on behalf of the groom.

Finally the most amusing tradition for the bride at the wedding , is the giving of the bouquet to a close friend. Traditionally the bouquet is offered to a single woman to wish her the same happiness and luck of the bride.
